January 14 – CANCELLED: Michigan Chapter ACBS Workshop, Algonac Maritime Center in the old Fifth Third Bank building across from the Algonac-Walpole ferry dock. Program starts at 9:30 A.M. with coffee. Cost is $15, lunch included.
February 9 – Michigan Chapter ACBS Board Meeting, including final preparations for Cobo Hall event. Logan's Roadhouse, 86 West 14 Mile Road, Troy MI. Meeting starts at 7pm, room is available for dinner at 6pm. All members welcome.
February 11 - 19 - Annual MBIA Detroit Boat Show, Cobo Hall, Detroit, MI. Our Chapter will be displaying a variety of boats, one from each decade from the 1920s to the 1970s for the "History of Boats and Bathing Suits" special display. We'll also have Ship's Stores. Speakers: Ron Jacobs from Wolverine Propeller, Norm Witte from Affordable Fuel Injection and Bill Graham, a Michigan Chapter member speaking about his experience as the Captain of the Motor Yacht Helene, a 105' luxury yacht crafted at Defoe Shipbuilding in 1927. May 6 - Spring Workshop. Brian Cuthbertson will have hands-on projects for all to enjoy. Location: 807 Degurse, Marine City, MI 48039. Time: 10:00 A.M. for coffee, 10:30 - 12 presentation, Lunch at noon. After lunch we will go to the Algonac Clay Maritime Museum in Algonac to visit on its first day open in 2017. May 18** - Lecture at the Wills Sainte Claire Museum. "Building Boats in Marysville - The History of the Gar Wood Boat Factory". The Wills Sainte Claire Auto Museum is proud to present an entertaining and interesting lecture by Terry Ernest about the Gar Wood Boat Factory on Thursday evening, May 18th, 2017 at 7:30 PM at the Wills Auto Museum located at 2408 Wills Street (Marysville Industrial Park South) in Marysville. $5.00 admission charge covers the presentation and admission to the Museum. May 20-21 – "Two-fer Weekend", combined event with Water Wonderland Chapter. Saturday: Poker Run on Grand River and Spring Lake. Launch at noon from the Grand Haven City Ramp, 101 N Harbor Drive. Lunch from Jimmy Johns. Dinner on your own in the area. Rooms are held at the Spring Lake Holiday Inn on the water. Sunday: Morning on your own. 11AM drive to Holland for lunch at Boatwerks Restaurant. Launch at Kollen Park Ramp for a cruise on Lake Macatawa. Haul out by 4PM. All cost on your own. June 11 – White Lake Rendezvous CANCELLED due to repair scheduled for the DNR Launch which will make it unavailable mid-May through late-August.
